Jörn Callies

Jörn is Assistant Professor for Environmental Science and Engineering in the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences at Caltech. He holds a M.Sc. degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and a Ph.D. from the MIT–WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography.

Joseph Fitzgerald

Joe is the Stanback Postdoctoral Scholar in Environment Science and Engineering, and he is working on understanding submesoscale tracer transport by waves and turbulence. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2018.

Anirban Sinha

anirban

Anirban is a postdoc in the group working on the large-scale impact of submesoscale turbulence, in a joint project with Dimitris Menemenlis (JPL). He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2018.

Ignacio Lopez-Gomez

Ignacio is a graduate student in the Environmental Science and Engineering program, working in the group to understand how fast atmospherically forced waves affect the slow ocean circulation.

Yangcheng Luo

Yangcheng is a graduate student in the Environmental Science and Engineering program, working in the group to understand vertical exchange driven by submesoscale baroclinic mixed-layer instabilities.

Shirui Peng

Shirui is a graduate student in the Environmental Science and Engineering program, working in the group on seismic ocean thermometry.

Henry Peterson

Henry is a graduate student in the Environmental Science and Engineering program, working in the group to understand basin-scale flow driven by bottom-intensified mixing.

Theodore Yang

Theodore is a senior at Caltech and is working on the analysis of satellite altimetry data.

Gianmarco Terrones

Gianmarco is a senior at Caltech and did a SURF in the group in 2019, working on compressible ocean modelling.
